Auto Transport Quote

When it comes to calculating your auto transport quote, different car shipping companies have different methods. There are some basic principles that are usually the same with every auto transport quote - standard prices for certain cars or routes, things like that. But there are small differences between each auto transport quote, and understanding what exactly your auto transport quote means is a huge first step. You should always search for multiple auto transport quotes when searching for auto transport - they’re free, and multiple auto transport quotes can be a great way to find good auto transport companies.

Your auto transport quote starts at the most basic level: the distance being traveled. Most auto transport companies have certain ways that they give their auto transport quote. Some have discounts with auto transport carriers that they haul with often, allowing cheaper prices on certain routes. Most auto transport companies have a mileage chart, with 0-100 miles being one price, 101-200 being slightly less per mile (for instance, 0-100 miles may cost $1.00 per mile; from 101-200 $0.98 per mile, and so on, decreasing with each set of 100 miles), and so on. This keeps the prices reasonable and makes sure that cross-country auto transport quotes aren’t going out at $3200. Most every auto transport quote is based on how much it will  cost to move the vehicle based on its location, and what type of vehicle it is.

For instance, an auto transport quote for a Toyota Corolla shipping from Seattle, Washington to Los Angeles, California, will be much less than a Dodge Sprinter Van shipping from Fargo, North Dakota to Charleston, West Virginia. There are several reasons for this: one, a Toyota Corolla is much smaller than a Dodge Sprinter, which means that more auto transport trucks will be willing to haul it. This brings the price of your auto transport quote down slightly. Secondly, it’s shipping from one major city to another; the Sprinter is shipping from North Dakota to West Virginia, two relatively unpopulous states. The larger the city, the easier it is to get auto transport out of, thus making your auto transport quote cheaper.

Why is that? Well, less populated states have fewer people shipping to or from them, which means that there are less auto transport trucks going in and out of those states. Auto transport carriers have to go where the customers are, and customers don’t usually live in Wyoming, the Dakotas or West Virginia. Therefore, shipping from those locations tends to raise the cost of your auto transport quote. It’s just the nature of the business.

It’s why we ask that you always tell us your shipping needs. We may be out of your price range, but if you give us accurate information we can give you an accurate auto transport quote - at the very least, you’ll have a good idea of what you’ll be spending should you book with another auto transport company.
